PLOT TWIST

Plot Twist is a rebrand of the current P&P series, “Curveballs,” which focuses on left-field, talent-specific questions. Information their audience wouldn’t suspect. The name change will allow for a broader set of questions. Plot Twist" is an editorial video series developed by Pigeons & Planes at Complex that humorously reimagines iconic pop culture moments.

My role

As the lead motion designer and animator, I was responsible for:

• Developing the visual identity and animation style

• Designing all motion graphics and transitions

• Building reusable assets and templates for weekly production

Creative Process & Tools

I moved into animation using:

• Adobe After Effects for character animation and kinetic text

• Photoshop for asset prep and stylized elements

Challenges & Solutions

The biggest challenge was turnaround speed. Episodes were often produced in under 48 hours, requiring quick iteration and a strong system. To meet deadlines, I:

• Built a custom After Effects template system with pre-rigged transitions and motion presets

Impact & Results

"Plot Twist" became a fan-favorite series, averaging 100K+ views per episode across social platforms. It significantly boosted engagement on Pigeons & Planes content and was regularly featured on Instagram Explore.
